Approximately 500 artists participate and over 100,000 visitors attend the exhibition every year. Side by side, established artists, undiscovered talents and innovative students sell their work directly to the public and make lasting connections with art dealers and collectors.

In 2009, the TOAE presented over $35,000 in cash awards and prizes to participating artists. These artists are working in a wide range of traditional and experimental art forms.

An Exhibition of work by Chris Dow.

Chris Dow explains, “For myself, painting is, in essence, an ethereal endeavour. Painting requires exploring feelings or perception that come from some place not understood and a place where words do not exist. The act of painting is experienced and the subject matter is a convenient starting point. I like painting outdoors and the way this requires intuitive response. Working in the studio forces me to take a contemplative approach, this is often more of a problem solving process where the problem itself is not an intellectual one.”

An Exhibition of painting by Jorge Alio.

Jorge Alio was born at José C. Paz in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. At the age of 18, he enrolled at the school of Arts in Buenos Aires. When he turned 25, he moved to Buenos Aires and lived in a studio apartment in the “La Boca” area in Buenos Aires. From 1991 he worked as a drawing teacher in different elementary schools. The expressive ability of the children has greatly impacted Alio to the point that the infantile drawings play an important and constant part in his iconography.
