Sabbath Sold Soul is a body of work investigating the idea of perpetuated adolescence. A re-imagined album design, a fictional crew code of arms, a pot hedge, and smoke patterns are explored through variety of simple, familiar mark making methods, from graphite pencils, spray paint to marijuana leaf stencils, and zippos. The resulting series display a sense of formal elegance that lies in compelling contrast to the often raw, crass, stoner symbols of youth culture explored in the work. Niall McClelland, grew up in Toronto, Ontario. He spent many of his summers in Northern Ireland, studied in Vancouver BC, and eight years later moved back to Toronto where he currently resides. Niall is a graduate of the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, shown his art internationally, and has been published in Arkitip, Adbusters, Hunter and Cook, Lowdown and Tokion. Eric Farache's exhibition of large format photography is an investigation into the convergence of time, image and memory through richly layered multiple exposures. Farache works with layered images all created in-camera, not digitally. Through exposures, more reference points are created and strung together, creating whole new reference point, based on a very personal visual language. Throughout Farache's practice, his work has consistently focused on the passage of time - capturing moments in history as well as place. Eric is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design (1994) in Fine Art and the University of Leeds where he earned his Masters in Fine Arts (2000). He often expresses his ideas in photography, sometimes utilizing the cheap and sensationalistic Holga camera. et *** Fuzzy, furry and cloudy *** - large scale crayon drawings mixed with pastels and paint - An Exhibition of compositions by Isabelle Hémard. Isabelle Hémard's Fuzzy, furry and cloudy shares company with her previous public offerings. As an unapologetic, hopeless romantic, she shares what pulses through her heart and onto paper resulting in large scale crayon drawings mixed with pastels and paint. Hemard scratches, paints, carves, prints, and sews each mood and experience through and onto her materials. Hemard scratches is a Toronto-based printmaker born in France, and has lived in Canada since the early nineties. She completed her MFA at Diplôme National Supérieur d'Arts Plastiques in France and has exhibited in Canada and internationally. They are a manifestation of our love for power, speed and aesthetic beauty. Each era in automotive history has common motifs represented in the makes and models of that era. Classic cars were large cars with lots of chrome, wrap around windshields, and large fins. They represented excess. I am fascinated by the study of light interacting with nature and translating my impression both visually and emotionally onto canvas. My intention is to create an atmosphere that, while accenting the power and sensuality of nature, draws viewers in, asking them to linger a while. Working mostly with acrylics, my images are abstracted atmospheric landscapes. My style and technique manifest my own unique modern interpretation of impressionist-style landscapes.
